I want to change my window blinds. What is the best place to buy window blinds at cheap prices.? - 12 Oct 2015 19:40

Tags:

[
]I buy them for $4-5 a piece or less at my local Menards store. Menards is like Lowes or Home Depot, but they are only located in the Midwest. I am sure Home Depot would have a similar deal. Some blinds are cheaper and simpler than others. The cheap $3 blinds have been in my http://www.salentomareblu.eu/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=631005 house for years without any problems. Decorations :: The Evolution of the Online Interior Design Industry - 11 Oct 2015 19:22

Tags:

[
]There's just one thing online interior designer entrepreneurs like me love more than cupcakes and that's being at the vanguard of the evolution of an entire industry.

Every industry has had its challenges when it comes to evolving to better serve its customers online. Many industries struggle with piracy, others with delivery and logistics. My industry, residential interior design, has struggled to evolve its cost-to-serve model toward something that is attractive to more than just the wealthiest one percent of American's.

When I launched online interior design website HMDhome.com six years ago the http://www.rambinet.com/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=230194 first sightings of my online interior designer competition could be found buried on page eight of a Google search in the form of a website selling "design in a box". "Design in a box" consisted of the client completing a rudimentary online form (inclusive of room dimensions and style questions) and paying $800 via PayPal to an interior designer hundreds of miles away whom they'd never get to speak to, let alone develop a relationship with. Six to eight weeks later a large hat box was to be delivered full of a very carefully curated selection fabric samples, paint chips, furniture plan drawing and a shopping list of furniture, lighting and decorative accessories.

Admirable in its presentation quality the 'design in a box' as a product was extremely beautifully prepared however as a business model it was doomed to fail for three reasons. It was an impersonal transaction in an industry that requires consultative collaboration. It was technically an improperly curated catalog because it represented what the designer had to offer, not what the client ultimately purchased for their interior design project. Finally, for the typical homeowner it was expensive. At this price point the interior designer wasn't expanding the overall interior design client base to a broader market and I suspect they failed to convert a meaningful number of home owners to online interior design in the process.

Today, home owners planning a home renovation or remodeling project can get tremendous value from online interior design services at a fraction of the cost of the original design in a box. Virtual services include ongoing consultation with a designer, specifications for colors, furniture, fixtures and finishes and access to exclusive designer discounts from popular retailers and trade sources.

Let me bore you for just a moment with some important statistics about the highly fragmented residential interior design industry relevant to its potential future online evolution.

A May 2011 report by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics indicated there are 40,950 interior designers in the US inclusive of all disciplines (residential, hospitality, corporate, restaurant and specialty). A minority of these professionals are expected to be localized residential interior designers serving fewer than 1% of US households with a traditional cost to serve model made up of hourly design fees and/or extra-retail product mark-ups.

The most significant barrier between interior designers and millions of potential new customers is the structure of the current interior design cost-to-serve model which is prohibitive for all but the wealthiest Americans.

According to a 2010 household income report from the US Census Bureau 8.4% of households earn in excess of $150K per year. While 90.2% of these were owner occupied as of two years ago, it's estimated that 7.8 million households representing a potential prime demographic for online interior designers have never before consulted with an interior designer.

With a lean six sigma black belt on staff at

Homemade Design Corporation (HMD) you can bet we collect and analyze key client data related to our online interior design firm. For example, 89.6% of approximately 954 current HMD clients report having never hired a designer before working with Homemade Design. Among the primary reasons given for not previously having hired an interior designer is the perception that hiring an interior designer will increase overall project costs.

Yes, wealthy homeowners in the Hamptons may enjoy bragging about how much they've spent as they sip champagne at the polo match. However, for the online interior design industry to evolve toward delighting a greater number of interior design clients we must enable them to brag about how much they have saved.

http://www.articlebiz.com/article/1051560008-1-the-evolution-of-the-online-interior-design-industry/

[

How to combine architecture and interior design. - 09 Oct 2015 19:21

[
]No industry is immune to the overwhelming trend of specialization. And while we may have become accustomed to this trend in medicine, it's become increasingly more prevalent in real estate, especially http://www.megri.am/index.php/en/?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=200587 within the complex world of interior design and construction. In fact, it's not unusual to find teams of 20 or more professionals involved with the design and development of corporate interior projects.

It's against this backdrop of frequently disparate specialists that FXFOWLE ARCHITECTS strives to deliver a collaborative methodology that seeks to thoughtfully integrate the execution of architecture and interior design. This core philosophy is reflected in the firm's new name, FXFOWLE, representing the firm's vision of design innovation, environmental sustainability and civic responsibility delivered through the collaboration of its five studios, among which Interiors is an equal partner.

FXFOWLE has long been recognized as a preeminent architecture firm, known for high-profile projects such as the New York Times headquarters building, the Second Avenue Subway design, The Lion House renovation at the Bronx Zoo, the Helena residential tower in Manhattan, the Nassau Hub redevelopment plan, the addition to the Juilliard School and the renovation of Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.

Throughout its 27-year history, the firm has maintained an Interiors practice as a collaborator with its Commercial/Residential, Educational/ Cultural, Planning/Urban Design and Transportation Studios. In the last two years, FXFOWLE has made a significant investment to elevate its Interiors Studio to be equal among its partners, signifying the value interior architectural expertise brings to every design challenge.

FXFOWLE's projects are routinely recognized for incorporating the views of the tenant, patron, neighbor and community into the earliest phases of the design of the building. By bringing interior architects into the project at its inception, they are able to weave the indispensable viewpoint of the future tenant into commercial projects. In the case of cultural and education projects, which are programmatically driven, a user-driven approach to the design can maximize the experience, the effectiveness and the efficiency of every square foot of space.

The Wildlife Conservation Society's new Center for Global Conservation building at the Bronx Zoo is a prime example. The nonprofit's new multifunctional facility will house several programs, including public affairs, exhibit and graphic arts departments, WCS Institute and international conservation. The building will contain offices, meeting rooms, a digital information center and flexible multi-use space to accommodate the administrative and research needs of the Wildlife Conservation Society. FXFOWLE's Cultural/Education Studio established the architectural concept for the building. The Interiors Studio is collaborating with the design team to test the design program against planning guidelines for the workspace. The result is a holistically developed design package, which addresses the programmatic needs driven by the workplace requirements within the architectural vision.

The professional collaboration at the Center for Global Conservation also reflects the means by which FXFOWLE and its clients achieve another important goal: environmental sustainability. The Wildlife Conservation Society headquarters will be a LEED Platinum building, with sustainability fundamental to with every design decision. The interiors team will work within these parameters to select finishes, furniture and accessories that support the environmentally responsible objectives of the project and raise the level of awareness of these components among the users.

When interior architectural design expertise is applied at the inception of a project, the result can yield the most intelligent, sensitive, creative and efficient solutions for clients—inside and out.

This inside-out methodology results in high quality design that is cost effective, flexible and functional.

GERARD F.X. [
]From classic color combinations to functional furniture layouts, there are a few select "rules" at the foundation of every well-designed room. Most professionals swear by these timeless mainstays, but, according to interior designer Isla Schmidt, what may be the biggest design rule of all has actually become the most overrated.

Maintaining perfect symmetry has long been associated with the composed sophistication that makes rooms so appealing. Using traditional symmetry, however, isn't always the best design strategy, as Schmidt explains to the web series #OWNSHOW.

"A lot of people think symmetry means things have to be equal," Schmidt says.
